The beautiful baroque city of Eger is about 55 minutes by car and has all the shopping facilities you would expect including a shopping mall, Tesco and Lidl supermarkets.

The city centre itself is a worth visiting to see the magnificent Basilica and the castle.

Visit the narrow alleyways in the inner part of Eger near the castle to find many cafes and traditional local shops.
Beside its historic sights and its thermal baths, Eger is famous for its wines. It produces both red and white wines of high quality. The famous and traditional varieties of the region are Egri Leányka, Egerszóláti Olaszrizling, Debroi Hárslevelu (whites), and Egri Bikavér (a red). More recently, Chardonnay and Pinot noir wines have appeared. The region's wines are said to bear a resemblance to those of Burgundy.

Visit the “Valley of the beautiful women” for wine tasting and great food.

This area in the Tisza region is ideal if you like walking, cycling, fishing or water sports as you are not far from all these activities.
