Sitting between Hyde Park and Rosebank, the building in which this apartment sits is a recent addition to Johannesburg, something that's immediately apparent when you step behind the front door.

There's a bright and contemporary feel to the interior, with stark white walls, Scandi-inspired furnishings and a minimalist kitchen that it almost feels a shame to mess up with home-cooking – almost. We have to admit that it's not the most characterful place in the world, although the artwork and house plants do add a little homeliness.

You're sure to be won over by the perks that lie outside, as well. The living room's sliding doors open up to a covered terrace, while guests are also sure to appreciate the private swimming pool, which, while not really large enough for lengths or long paddles, will cool you down on sizzling hot afternoons.

When you're in the mood to see a little more of the local area, there are high-end restaurants and shops aplenty nearby, including at Hyde Park Corner. The historic attractions and contemporary galleries of Johannesburg's centre don't take too long to reach in the car, either.
