Property
Our flat is situated on the ground floor of an early 20th century buinding. The flat was for a long time a simple proletarian dwelling. Subsequently, for years, it was used as a warehouse by an adjacent business building umbrellas for open-air grocery markets. When we bought it, it was an empty and dusty space asking to be brought back to life again.
The flat is a small (50sqm) open space loft, separated in two main areas by a structural arch (almost 5 meters high). The first area, that overlooks via dei Lucani, is occupied by the open-space kichen. It is charaterised by two high lateral arches which we decided to colour with a warm rust-red. This is the brightest part of the flat, as light enters from a French-window, which can be used to access the flat also.
Crossing to the other half of the flat, you can find the bedroom, which can be reached by climbing a light yellow metal spiral staircase. Right below the mezzanine that houses the bedroom, there is a cosy living room (with a sofa bed) and a compact but comfortable bathroom with shower.
The flat has two entrances: one from via dei Lucani and one from the main building entrace, situated on via dei Campani.
Neighbourhood
San Lorenzo is a vibrant, eclectic neighborhood in the heart of Rome, offering an genuine blend of historical charm and youthful energy. Whether you’re looking to enjoy local cuisine, explore history, or soak in the creative atmosphere, San Lorenzo offers a dynamic and memorable experience for any visitor.
Local Transport and Parking
San Lorenzo is walking distance from Rome Central Station (Stazione Termini). This makes it very convenient as public transport goes. Once in Termini station, you can access the entire undergound system. In front of Termini station, you can also find many bus and tramway lines covering the whole town.
Also, via dei Lucani allows for private car parking, although the street only allows for toll parking on the blue lines (indicatively 4 euros for 8 hours parking or 1 euro per hour).
