Looking for a Florence bolthole that's as unique as it is central? This Santa Croce district apartment, set in a fresco-adorned palazzo and within walking distance of all the must-see sights, is spot-on. With ceilings soaring nearly six metres high in the open-plan living and bedroom space, and a mezzanine level providing access to an additional single bedroom and bathroom, the layout is a tad quirky. But we think this only adds to the charm. It’s worth noting that the kitchen is on the small side and better suited to lighter meals and breakfast. But with so many traditional Florentine restaurants just around the corner in the Santa Croce Piazza, we suspect you’ll be eating out alot.

*The mezzanine single bedroom and second bathroom are accessed via a steep flight of stairs, which might not be suitable for smaller children or guests with restricted mobility.
