Characterful but straightforward, the home has been built from the heart, and your host's fun-loving personality has seeped into its design. This garden loft is on the smaller side, but it's recently been updated to be a fully functional home for those simply looking to roll out of bed and into the surf – it's located just three blocks from Windansea Beach. The mosaic shower room is perfect for washing the salt off and reminds us of a mermaid's lair. Elsewhere, houseplants and floral prints add to the tropical feel and if you want to enjoy a moment's meditation, head up to the sofas in the loft to enjoy a cup of herbal tea. Head into Downtown San Diego, approximately twelve miles away, for fascinating history, trendy trattorias, and high culture. Alternatively, make your way north to the coastal towns of Del Mar, Encinitas and Carlsbad, up to half an hour's drive from your home.
*There are steep stairs up to the loft bedroom – the main reason why it's adults only
*The bedroom ceiling is low – anyone over 5'6 will struggle to stand up straight – it's not too much of an issue as you'll spend most of your time downstairs
