It’s all blue skies, beaches and bougainvillaea on this little beauty of an island, and this sprawling home is the perfect place to experience it. Built in the 19th century, the house has been renovated and updated considerably since then and is now a chic holiday paradise.
We love that it’s built around a Roman-style courtyard, so the whole house is kept cool. There are so many chill-out areas you may still be finding new places to relax on the day you leave.
All the bedrooms come with a terrace, and the garden has plenty of shade thanks to mature olive trees and multiple covered terraces. And then there’s the pool – surrounded by sun loungers and elegantly lit come nightfall, its turquoise waters will be calling whatever the time of day.
Adjacent to the pool, you’ll find a sundeck that we think could easily double as a yoga terrace should the mood to asana strike you, and there are two outdoor dining areas to pick from come dinner time.
Inside, the large, bright rooms are minimally decorated with interesting natural textiles and the occasional splash of colour. There’s a mezzanine in the living room – only accessible via a ladder – for when you need a quiet moment and a kitchen that’s been designed with family feasts and group gatherings in mind.
