It’s not often you find a villa for two, a cosy bolthole in the countryside, with a big private swimming pool and full outdoor kitchen. This traditional stone cottage is ideal for a couple or even a solo traveller looking to make the most of the Balearic sunshine and get away from it all. It’s perched up in the Tramuntana Mountains, where walking trails snake across the landscape. Yet it’s just a fifteen-minute walk (or three-minute drive) into the heart of medieval Fortnalutx town for restaurants, pavement bars and supermarkets.
The outside space took our breath away, with mountain views from every corner and a pristine swimming pool in the centre of the stone terrace. There are plenty of spots to enjoy a barbecue feast from the summer kitchen – the stone seats looking out over the ravine, the plush wicker chairs, or at the stone table beneath the ancient olive tree. Inside, crisp white walls and ink-black iron accents whisper of the old world and there’s a wood-burning stove at the centre of the living room. Books dotted throughout the home can provide an escape from the everyday, and there’s a flatscreen TV if binge-watching your favourite shows is more your thing.
*Some guests said the wi-fi here was patchy at times. If you'll be relying on the internet for work during your stay, you might want to bring a personal hotspot device with you.
*The road leading to the property is narrow and steep – worth noting if you'll be arriving by car.
