Welcome to Elche! We invite you to stay in our house, a penthouse with a large terrace where you can sunbathe or do some sporting activity and where there is a small removable pool to cool off in summer. The property has four rooms, one of them for rent, and two bathrooms shared with the family or other guests. You can stay with us in the common rooms and enjoy a family atmosphere, if that is what you are looking for, or rest in your room and go up to the terrace if you prefer to do other things. There are 3 people living at home: my husband, my daughter and I. My husband and I are civil servants, my daughter studies music at the Albacete Conservatory, so she is only at home on weekends. For many years we have hosted boys and girls who were students who came to learn Spanish. The experience has been fantastic.We have a great relationship with them and their families, so much so that some have come home on holiday afterwards and we have gone to their homes. And we are still in contact with all of them. Most of them were Irish, but we have also had people from Belgium, Switzerland and France. And we are open to meeting people from other countries, whether they come to learn Spanish or to spend a few days. We are in a quiet neighbourhood, which has shops, pharmacies, supermarkets and restaurants. Located 10 minutes walk from the local train stop, you can easily visit Alicante, Murcia or any town linked by rail between these two cities. We are also 10 minutes by bus from the centre of Elche, or 20 if you prefer to go on foot. In Elche we have a bicycle loan system, with access and delivery points spread throughout the city and close to places of interest. You can take a guided "free tour" that will take you to the most important points of the city or visit them on your own. For us, these are: * The Palm Grove and Garden Huerto del Cura. * The Altamira Palace * Basilica of Santa María * Archaeological Park of La Alcudia * Archaeological and History Museum of Elche. MAHE. * The Municipal Park. * Convent of La Merced and Arab baths #BEACHES We have more than three thousand hours of sunshine a year, on nine kilometres of fine white sand, which are spread over six beaches, the closest being 20 minutes by car, and which are: • Playa del Altet, with an incredible dune line and a blue flag • Arenales del Sol, almost 3 km of fine white sand • El Carabassi with its walkways between dunes, virgin and a nudist part • El Pinet: with chalets from the 50s and restaurants • La Marina, with a blue flag and next to La Marina Resort • Les Pesqueres-El Rebollo with dunes, pine forests and a blue flag # The airport is 20 km away, 15 minutes by car depending on traffic. #NATURE AND HIKING. If you have time and desire to walk, you can take a route through the Natural Parks of Salinas de Santa Pola, El Clot de Galvany and El Hondo, which are some of the most important wetlands in the Valencian Community, rich in birds and plant variety.
