Be at one with nature in this self-contained, spacious eco-villa, which sits on the large 14 acre property of a Wellness Retreat & Farm Stay bordering a lagoon, river and within a short walk from the quiet local beach. A nature lover's paradise!
Enjoy the outdoor pool, kayaking, boat rides, practice yoga and indulge in Ayurveda treatments.
The Wellness Retreat also features a 4-bedroom bungalow, another 2-bedroom villa and two single chalets. The units can be booked together or separately.
The Back of Beyond Wellness eco-retreat boarders the river Urubokka Oya, with the estuary (modara, which the village is named after) just a few minutes by boat or foot. The secluded beach is just a 5-minute walk away - a lovely place to start and end your day.

We do not only share these beautiful 14 acres with peacocks but with countless other birds, as part of the land is reforested with over 100 trees planted to date. The rest of the land is reverted to a dry zone farm. Our orchard with nearly over 40 varieties provides most of the fruits and vegetables we serve our guests. We have also started a butterfly garden, creating a flower-, fragrance- and joy-filled patches around the land.

The eco lodge’s bungalow, cottage and villas are located to maximize interaction with the outdoors while maintaining individual privacy. In total there are 9 rooms for around 25 adults, all rooms have attached bathrooms with hot water and are equipped with mosquito nets. The units can be booked together or separately.

We have our own open-air yoga hall, a sea-sand restaurant, a tropical outdoor swimming pool as well as our own Ayurveda centre where we provide Ayurveda consultants with a traditional Ayurveda doctor, Ayurveda treatments and massages, thus making it an ideal retreat, also for yoga groups, meditation retreats, corporate training or family get-togethers.

To meet the needs of guests who stay longer, we have created two spacious self-contained villas with fully equipped pantry/kitchenette, close to the butterfly garden, swimming pool and sea-sand restaurant.

This lovely two-bedroom villa can accommodate 6 people and features a lovely living area which opens out into the tropical back garden, dining room and kitchenette and attached bathrooms designed in the tropical style. On to one side, the estuary can be seen through the coconut trees, and on to the other the Urubokka Oya is flowing down to the sea. The real treat is to star gaze on a clear night.
