This picturesque Cottage is nestled in a valley on the edge of the lovely and peaceful village of Carapinhal, full of warm and friendly locals.

Carapinhal is perfectly situated less than 5 minutes drive from the thriving town of Mortagua and less than 10 minutes from beautiful Santa Comba Dao.

The cottage itself stands in the courtyard of the main farmhouse (occupied by the owners) and has been sympathetically restored in a rustic style to a very high standard.

This beautiful traditional country cottage comprises of: Downstairs lounge; one bedroom with king size bed; shower room and W.C; and large ground floor outside patio with dining table and chairs. Upstairs is the kitchen and dining room with private balcony and roof terrace for a further outdoor relaxing/ dining option.

High-speed, reliable fibre internet is included in the price, as well as gas, electric, water, firewood for the log burner and council tax. Access to the shared maintained garden and shared maintained swimming pool is by prior arrangement, but they can be made frequently available for your exclusive use when not in use by our family.

Entrance to the cottage is by way of downstairs patio doors which enter into the cosy lounge with a comfortable sofa, armchair, wood-burning stove, side tables, bookshelves and T.V. The exposed beams and open wooden staircase add to the romantic cottage ambience.

Through from the lounge is the double bedroom. There is a comfortable king size bed with bedside tables, double wardrobe, chair, electric radiator, spacious clothes and storage area and chest of drawers. For your comfort and hygiene, pillow, mattress and duvet protectors are provided.

The spacious upstairs kitchen and dining area has a dining table and 4 chairs, as well as a comfortable double sofa-bed. The lovely pine kitchen was completed by a local craftsman. It is finished with granite worktops and is fully equipped with 4 ring gas hob and oven with grill, full fridge freezer, washing machine, toaster, kettle and of course all crockery, cutlery, cookware are also provided. The vaulted beamed ceiling adds to the feeling of space. The vented chimney heats this space from the downstairs during the short winter months and during warmer weather you have your own private balcony, which leads to a private roof terrace with dining table and chairs for al-fresco dining, and comfortable reclining chairs where you can relax and enjoy a glass of something refreshing.

The entire cottage is very clean, comfortable and well presented.

We can arrange for fresh morning rolls to be delivered daily on request. The nearest cafe- bar serving snacks is in Vale de Acores, just a 15 minute walk or two minute drive away, and there are numerous cafes and restaurants all within a five to fifteen-minute drive. The train station which takes you to the city of Coimbra (and beyond) is a 5 minute drive/ 40 minute walk away.

Your hosts are on hand to provide any information you may require about the local area or to help you book any activities (e.g. wine tours, health and beauty treatments or outdoor sports activities). We also have two mountain bikes available for your use free of charge, as well as a tent with all camping gear and wind-breaks/ sun umbrellas/ cool box for trips to the beach or many wonderful river beaches.

Our extremely generous neighbours often supply us with some lovely seasonal fruit and vegetables so don't be surprised to find the odd bag of fresh green beans and courgettes on your doorstep. You are welcome to help yourself to oranges and lemons from the citrus trees outside your bedroom window, and a small herb garden is planted at the front for your use.
